Selena Gomez - "Bad Liar"
Written by: Lexie
Selena Gomez has a new song out, and she is keeping it too real! Her latest track, "Bad Liar," is a lighthearted track that accurately depicts the struggle of dealing with feelings for an unfit person. Gomez reiterates over and over that she's "trying not to give in," because regardless of knowing the relationship wouldn't be optimal, she has "feelings on fire." The title "Bad Liar" comes from her inability to convince herself (and others) that she is not interested in this person, especially since there is an evident connection. The repetitive nature of the song appropriately communicates the constant, nagging feeling of wanting someone who you know wouldn't be the best match for you; you have to constantly remind yourself to put that person out of your mind, while simultaneously allowing that person to occupy your thoughts. Though there's clearly a relatable struggle being expressed, the song is upbeat, and this adds a playfulness to the song's meaning, and encourages one not to stress too much over it -- whatever happens, happens.
Overall, the song is fun and catchy, which makes a great track to blast -- especially if you're in this situation and need a pick-me-up -- which easily earns it a 9 out of 10! If you have yet to hear it for yourself, be sure to head on over to Spotify or YouTube to check it out NOW!
