Lorna Shore - Flesh Coffin

ALBUM REVIEW

Lorna Shore - "Flesh Coffin"
Written by: Lexie

In search of a badass album to blare and headbang along to? I think we can make a suggestion
Lorna Shore is releasing their second album, "Flesh Coffin" (with Outerloop Records), following their first full-length album from last year, "Psalms." The album's sound is energetic and powerful, and is sure to draw you in.

The first track, "Offering of Fire," is an effective introduction to the album. It has a strong build up; the song quickly slides into a forceful sound, and sufficiently sets the tone for what's to come. By the end, you're left anticipating what the rest of the album has in store.

With "Denounce the Light, " listeners are not disappointed as the intensity of the album is amplified with this driven piece. Fierce rolling on the drums adds to the heart-pounding excitement of the song, and makes for a great track to jam to early on in the album. "Desolate Veil" and "Fvneral Moon" are simultaneously haunting and enchanting. This unique sound gradually builds until it forms into its true, heavy form.

As the album progresses, it only gets better. "Infernum," as its fiery title may foreshadow, is -- from start to finish -- demanding of your attention and consisting of a badass rhythm. The last song, the album-titled track "Flesh Coffin," is definitely a worthy finale. It is by far the most dynamic song, and it features awesome break-downs. It give listeners a satisfying close to the album, as it closes with a bang. If you enjoyed the rest of the album, this song is sure to drive it home.

Overall, I'd give this album a 10 out of 10. This entire album shares a fierce and intense sound, but it avoids redundancy by having tracks that have distinct, individual expressions of that sound. The instrumentals and growling vocals work together -- equally -- to ensure each song is just as great as the last. Sound like something you could get into? You can anticipate the album's release on February 17, 2017!
