Lamb of God - "The Duke"

Music has the ability to evoke emotions through some of the most trying times in a person's life. Music helps us cope with difficult situations, it guides us through the darkest times, and it can make the sad smile again. It's a tad unusual for heavy metal bands to write slow, melancholy songs as tribute, so how do they do it?
They write a song that has screaming guitars, unclean vocals, and extremely personal lyrical content, and they turn it into an EP.
Lamb of God has debuted their newest single, 'The Duke', in memory of a fan who died from leukemia. Wayne Ford wasn't just 'another fan', he was the inspiration that frontman, Randy Blythe needed to finish this particular song.
Even though they stayed true to their heavy and raw style, the emotion is intense and real. Blythe stated that some of the lyrics were personal for Ford's wife as well, and she would recognize them right away. It was the best way they could keep his memory alive.
Blythe sings about mortality, not only on a personal level, but also on a campaign, awareness level. The moving story from Ford encouraged the band to raise awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and BeTheMatch.org, a website operated by the National Marrow Donor Program. (Blythe became a member after the band's merch seller died in 2008 from the disease).
The EP will include other unreleased tracks that were done specifically for this EP, which is set to drop November 18th! What an absolute beautiful way to commemorate a fan! Lamb of God earns an 8 out of ten for their work. Wayne Ford would be so proud, guys!
