Halsey - 'Never Afraid Anymore'
Written by: Kassandra
Sexy, sinful, powerful. Those are only a few of the words that describe Halsey's new song!
This powerful track was written specifically for the '50 Shades Darker' movie, set to release on Valentines Day 2017. If you are familiar with the storyline, then the story this particular song tells falls right in line.
The song introduces us to the new, ideologically sensitive, yet provocative world that Anastasia Steele has been swept into. She wants to be in Christian Grey's world, but on her own terms. No rules, no kinky intimacy, no specific roles to play.
Desperate to have her any way he can get her, Christian agrees to her demands while also promising her all the pleasure she can imagine. This song tells the story of how Ana is torn between what she knows about sexual desire through already obtained knowledge, and the carnal yet satisfying whirlwind of pleasure that only Christian can provide.
She wants to be touched like never before, loved like never before, and never afraid to want those things for herself. The metaphorical lyrics refer to stepping out of your comfort zone. It doesn't have to necessarily mean sex or in a relationship, but for life in general. It's okay to want things for yourself and to actively pursue those things.
The overall vibe is slow and sensual which gives light to that romantic feeling because this is a romance genre film. However, that's not the entire story. It's powerful in the sense that one can take great pride for knowing what they want and how to get it.
Halsey earns a 9 out of 10 for her creativity and being able to tell a story within a story. When listening to this song in relation to the story it was originally intended for, it makes perfect sense. When listened to as a stand-alone track with no correlation to the 50 Shades trilogy, it can still be appreciated for its message and musicality.
You can order your copy of the song now at www.amazon.com or on itunes, or you can hear it in the much anticipated sequel, '50 Shades Darker', due to hit theaters mid-February, 2017!
