Dianthus - Within Hazel Eyes

Music Video Review

Dianthus - "Within Hazel Eyes"
Written by: Tori

You know what they say about twins- double the trouble 🔥Melodic metal group, Dianthus, formed by two sisters ( Jessica Parry and Jackie Parry), is brutal, elegant, and hauntingly beautiful. Paving the way for women in the industry, they've surely caught our attention!

Directed by Patrick Fogarty and produced by Jinxx, "Within Hazel Eyes" carries relatable symbolism. Explaining the difficulty of dealing with sudden hazy, or indistinctive/shady, practices in a relationship/friendship, it raises a question within trust- expressing the story of being blind to toxicity, while searching for goodness you thought was present.

If old Flyleaf met Avenged Sevenfold and Disturbed, you might find Dianthus' style somewhere in the mix. It's easy to enjoy the lyrical imagery within their music, complimented by physical display of blindness exemplified with blindfolds, in their music video.

Personally, the bold statements of the piece were within the immaculate guitar work and technique, thriving drums, and quick hint of piano. The instrumentation is mind-blowing, to say the least. The vocals were a bit soft in comparison to how heavy the song was, but still was entertaining! Jessica's voice is beautiful. And Jackie has great chops! Their breakdowns could break legs 🤘
