As It Is - Okay.

ALBUM REVIEW

As It Is - “Okay.”
Written by: Lexie

If there’s one thing this world needs more of, it’s positivity, and As It Is’s latest album "Okay.” may be just what you need to get through this week!

The entire album is an upbeat, pop-punk collection of songs with high spirits and enthusiastic instrumentals. Every song — whether particularly relatable or not — has an optimistic mood to offer its audience. Even the album-titled track “Okay,” while conveying a state of NOT being okay, could be mistaken for a feel-good hit! Similarly, the songs “Patchwork Love” and “Hey Rachel” portray struggles in romance while maintaining the same uplifted tone.

Tracks like “Curtains Close,” “Still Remembering,” and “No Way Out” stand out in their emotional expression, as the vocal tone and instrumentals more accurately match the seriousness of the lyrics.

Overall, the majority of lyrical content of this album depict everyday struggles and hardships, but the contrasting delivery of these lyrics seem to encourage a positive approach to these struggles. While life consists of troubling times, how we choose to handle these problems influences what we take away from them. “Okay.” would be a perfect album to jam out to if you need that extra motivation to tackle life’s obstacles!

Considering the album as a whole, I would rate “Okay.” a 7 out of 10; the sound is upbeat and heartening, and the lyrics are of common situations that audiences will find relatable. You can check out songs from “Okay.” TODAY on YouTube and Spotify! If you like what you hear, be sure to purchase the album in its entirety on iTunes!
