Life Afraid - Set It Off

SONG REVIEW

"Life Afraid" by Set It Off
Written by: Kassandra and Reagan

HEY! HO! HEY! HO! What a great day to be alive!🎶 Set It Off just debuted their BRAND NEW SINGLE off their upcoming album "Upside Down" out October 7th via Equal Vision Records!

"Life Afraid" is the ultimate jam to turn any bad day around into a great one. Its inspirational lyrics and upbeat vibe get the listeners instantly up on their feet and onto the dance floor. It motivates the listeners to make a positive change in their lives and to live life without fear.

From start to finish, this track will have everyone singing along. The Tampa pop-punk group has matured and defined their sound in the span eight years, four albums, and endless tours. "Life Afraid" takes Set It Off down a much more pop-y road. It could be put on the radio without a doubt. Lyrically, they've become much more uplifting and positive. Set It Off has a trumpet playing throughout the track which ties it into, what seems to be, a theme in the album, based off the singles. Audience participation is part of the tune as well which adds to the fun light-heartedness. All of the main instrumentation is kept simple in order to keep the "pop" sound. Moving away from their rock sound, it's something new and fresh for fans to get into.

The song is relatable in every way because we've all been sick and tired of being sick and tired. Set It Off consistently portrays important messages to their audience, and "Life Afraid" is no different. We are all living, breathing creatures, but so many of us just go through the motions of life and never actually LIVE. It's encouraging listeners to be positive, take a chance, and do something great with their lives.

Set It Off's "Life Afraid" earns a 10/10 for its unique approach to inspiring fans and for its positive message! Catch them perform "Life Afraid" on Vans Warped Tour for the remaining dates!
