"Chucky vs. The Giant Tortoise" by Dance Gavin Dance

Not in the mood to dissect a song with a deep, profound underlying moral? PERFECT! Then Dance Gavin Dance's newest track "Chucky vs. The Giant Tortoise" is just what you're looking for!
This song -- now available to listen to on Rise Records's YouTube -- is sure to be one of the most random and erratic pieces you have ever heard!
The first verse, alluding to poison, being numb, and somehow still being alive, initially seems to have some coherence but as the song continues, it quickly becomes evident that this song has little rhyme or reason!
With lyrics mentioning pico de gallo, a rhino, a black hole, a fountain, and tomato bisque, there definitely appears to be a consistent streak of humor throughout the song. Most of the lyrics, including one that explicitly mentions "magic fix-it pills," provoke the question of whether the song was meant to represent the random stream of consciousness often associated with a drug-induced trip, but regardless, the song is unpredictable!
Despite the lyrical content (or lack thereof), the sound was great. Whether the song is singing about having "a feeling we could touch the sky" or tomato bisque, the sound is consistently badass, and will definitely have you moving! Overall I would give this song a 7 out of 10, for it's sound and the unique lyrical format.
