Of Mice & Men has hit us with another new single off their 4th studio album titled "Cold World," due September 9th, and by the sound of it, this may be a song you love or hate.

Listeners can clearly hear the transition in the band’s sound but it gives us something new and refreshing. This can also be heard in their previously released track "Pain" even though that took a heavier approach. The transformation however, showcases the broad range of Austin Carlile's vocal talents and also demonstrates the musical talents of each member.

It's safe to say that "Real" may possibly be the ballad of this album and it is definitely something different when compared to anything the band has done to date. While they have experimented with using a combination of clean vocals and screams on their previous album, it seems they've decided to take a new approach and scrap the screaming on this entire track. The lack of screams may disappoint some fans but we love hearing Austin's clean vocals and can only hope for more in the future!

The title is a dead giveaway of what the lyrics are trying to say. This is an authentic, genuine, and true version of the band and that shows through their music. Due to the lyrical content being simple and easy to connect with, there are no underlying metaphorical phrases which gives listeners a chance to understand and love the song for what it is. The lyrics are relatable in a sense that we have all felt like we are in a bad place and we have all been stripped of what makes us feel real. The slow build up to the powerful chorus combined relatable and sympathetic lyrics creates a song that is going to be a show stopper.

Of Mice and Men are giving fans the best of their abilities with this single and showing true craftsmanship. This song has earned an 8/10 rating and we cannot wait to see what they have in store with their new album! You can catch the guys on the road with Marilyn Manson and Slipknot this fall! Be sure to pick up your copy of "Cold World" on September 9th!
