MUSIC VIDEO REVIEW
"Perfect" by Echo Black (ft. Telle Smith)
Written by: Lexie
On July 12, Echo Black released a new music video for their track, "Perfect." This unique love song features a chilling video, as well as guest vocals from Telle Smith, from The Word Alive. For the entirety of the video, the band is seen in a psychiatric ward, complete with white, padded walls. Every band member is resistant to the treatment, and they all partake in raising hell for the ward's staff.
While the video alone seems unconventional for a love song, the sound and lyrical content also seem to stray from typical standards. The music is energetic, but also heavy and dark, being a rock song with electronic elements. The vocals offered by Telle Smith also enhance the overall sound, and have fans going wild. Aside from just the sound, the lyrics feel like they're coming from a place of anger and frustration, as opposed to passion or devotion. Altogether, it is an extremely unique piece.
When discussing "Perfect," frontman Danny Blu expressed that it is a love song that explores, " desperation, agony, frustration, euphoria, confusion, etc." Essentially, it addresses all of the darker sides of being in love, which explains the instability portrayed in the video.
Overall, I enjoyed this song and video's different approach to a typically-cliche theme. I would rate this an 8 out of 10, and would highly suggest checking it out for yourself! Be sure to watch the video on Fuse and let us know what you think!
