MUSIC VIDEO REVIEW
“Pretty Grim” by Vanna

Angsty, heavy, and brutal sums up Vanna's newly released single off their upcoming album, “All Hell.”
The video portrays the actor as the “reaper” and also the “voice of death”- every time he touches someone, the person dies. Vocalist, Davey Muise screams, “Life is pretty grim when you’re all alone. Can’t feel, can’t touch, can’t hold anyone cause my hand is the hand of death”- continuing the reaper theme. This goes on to show the actor stopping his car to touch (kill) someone who suffered from a motorcycle accident, but he changed his mind and called for help. Though he has the ability to control death with just his fingertips, he still allowed the victim to live which in turn made him have a heart for the suffering.
Davey’s screams are surrounded by punchy rhythm guitars and drums making you get pumped up. This is THEE song that starts mosh pits at concerts! Davey transitions into the chorus with a gritty and clean vocal style accompanied by both lead and rhythm guitars keeping the aggressiveness up to par with the rest of the song- giving it that rowdy push to get you moving.
"Pretty Grim" gets an 8 out of 10. While it is a good overall song, the lyrics do not deliver a meaningful message to compliment the deep video; however, that can be subjective. If you just want a heavy track to headbang and mosh to, then this is perfect for you. “All Hell” is set to release on July 8th and Vanna will also be playing on the Monster Energy Stage this year's Vans Warped Tour so be sure to check them out!
