S.O.A.R - Devour The Day

ALBUM REVIEW

“S.O.A.R” by Devour the Day
Written by: Allison

They’ve been working their asses off, and we are happy to announce the long awaited album “S.O.A.R” from Devour The Day is finally here! Intense, heavy electro-metal music with an apprehensive rage undertone, this album is definitely going to have Devour The Day ‘soaring’ to new heights in the music world. The dynamic duo Joey “Chicago” Walser and Blake Allison (previous members of Egypt Cental) with Ronnie Farris and David Hoffman displayed their musical talent and skill when they created, yet another album full of quality music.

The acronym “S.O.A.R” stands for “suffer, overcome, and recover” which is a theme that each and every song on this album accurately portrays. Through sound and lyrics, they’ve successfully captured all the emotion and feeling behind suffering, overcoming, and recovering. Compared to the band’s first full album “Time & Pressure,” you can clearly tell that they have gained confidence and grown a musicians, songwriters, and as a band all together. Ranging from straightforward anthem styles, to temperamental flows, to wild punk beats- “S.O.A.R.” absolutely SLAYS all around.

Although it was an EXTREMELY tough call, I think it's fair for me to say that “The Bottom,” “Step Aside,” and “Heaven?” are DEFINITELY my top three favorite songs from S.O.A.R. Each song speaks to one or more of the themes of this album with passionate, genuine, and extremely real lyrics accompanied by distinctive melodies. Overall I believe a 9/10 is a rightfully earned rating for this album. Showing the true colors of the band’s talent, this album holds nothing back! Head over to iTunes or GooglePlay ASAP and experience “S.O.A.R.” for yourself!
