I'm About To Break You - New Year's Day

MUSIC VIDEO REVIEW

"I'm About To Break You" by New Year's Day
Written by : Tori

Deadly and seductive, yet barbaric and animalistic... New Year's Day present a brand new music video for a song off of their new album, 'Malevolence', "I'm About to Break You".
NYD , this may turn into something you don't like, and we don't mean to break you, but originality please? Being brutally honest, we've seen the mentally ill jerks, artists in cages, jamming on top of cars, surveillance cameras...
Imitative, some influences to the video could've been duplicated from Black Veil Brides' "Legion of the Black" meets their "the Legacy", alongside the a press release of the BVB Revolver photoshoot. I mean, c'mon! Desert, deep-voiced narration (similar to BVB'S creation of F.E.A.R.), own band flags waving, the way the cars were designed to mimic modern tanks, revolution-like charging, guitarist placement on the very tops of the cars... all you were missing was the pyro and all that was added was seduction and animalistic behavior.
You can even spot some Marilyn Manson sprinkles of influence! Let's be a little original here
The idea of being under a controller and escaping was exhilarating, and cinema-like!- THAT was an audience pleaser.
All in all, it's a pretty bad ass music video! The production was sick, crystal clear, and the lighting was complimentary! Wherever it was filmed was a stylish and tasteful choice as well; but the concept has already been done. The song itself is pretty sexy, rocking, and wild- could be someone's anthem to gaining confidence! The video gets a 3 out of 5, but the concept and originality is a 0 out of 5, with a winning 4 out of 5 for the music itself. Be sure to check it out, let us know what you think, and get yourself a copy of their new album "Malevolence".
