We’ve been asking for it and Asking Alexandria gave us just want we wanted, another new song from their upcoming album, "The Black".
“Here I Am" develops a distinct and calming sound; different than their signature scream. However, it gave us the opportunity to experience Denis Stoff's exceptionally true talent with his singing. His vocal range makes us have nothing but utmost respect for him and what he is contributing to the band.
The lyrics is straightforward and easily relatable. People will bring us down for the mistakes we make but little do they know, those mistakes make us a stronger and wiser individual; we shouldn’t feel ashamed of our mistakes but we should be proud of the person we become, after we learn from the mistakes. The lyrics also expresses that “if you find it hard to breathe, you can put the faith in me” and “we are the voice of a generation". Anyone who is suffering from negativity because of their mistakes is not alone and there are other people who are willing to stand up with you.
While the vocals and lyrics excelled, the downfall of “Here I Am” is the instruments. The guitars was lackluster because there were only power chords being played and a few clean notes during the verse. It flowed with the calmer nature of the song however, it was just missing something. Because of this, “Here I Am” gets a 7.5 out of 10. Let us know what YOU think! To go listen, you can find it up on Youtube.. "the Black" will be released March 25th! If you haven't had the chance to preorder it, now is your chance!
