MUSIC VIDEO REVIEW
"Eyelids" by Pvris
Written by: Lexie
On February 16th, Pvris came out with a new music video for their song, "Eyelids." If you are familiar with the band's music, you will definitely recognize their distinct, progressive sound. This is a more mellow, melodic, sentimental piece compared to their usual upbeat, animated tracks. Lynn Gunn's vocals are so delicate and expressive, as she longingly sings of a lover. This song beautifully depicts a deep connection between two people, and the distress of separation.
The accompanying video is pretty minimalist, but it still manages to emphasize the anxious, resistant feelings that come with being away from what we want most. Elaborate, agonized choreography and metaphorical covers both contribute to the deeper understanding of the song's overall meaning, as they both ultimately give way to love, and a commitment to that love. The ending between the beautiful dancer featured and Lynn Gun, is absolutely adorable, but you'll have to see the video for yourself to see what that means! Overall, I'd rate this video a 9 out of 10, for its ability to simply create such a powerful meaning for the song it was portraying. Head over to YouTube and see what YOU think!
