The Getaway - The Red Hot Chili Peppers

ALBUM REVIEW

"The Getaway" by The Red Hot Chili Peppers
Written by: Lexie

TODAY, June 17th, Red Hot Chili Peppers released their much-anticipated album, "The Getaway." Once again, these masterful artists have not disappointed! Playing with everything from funk to punk, this album has awesome rhythms, and signature RHCP sounds!

Unlike earlier, notable albums like Californiacation, audiences will hear a more somber tone to the songs, which mostly portray heartbreak. -- But in traditional RHCP fashion, despite the content of the lyrics, most of the songs are upbeat and will have you grooving right along!

While all of the songs are unified in having insurmountable rhythms, they all utilize their rhythms in ways to make each song incredibly unique from the others. While some songs like "The Getaway" and "Dark Necessities" are reminiscent of RHCP's earlier work, some songs are slower in tempo and more emotional in tone, like "The Longest Wave" and "The Hunter." "Dreams of a Samurai" has a more experimental quality, as it plays with distorted sound and dynamic instrumentals.

Overall, the album is absolutely unique, while simultaneously preserving signature qualities of RHCP music! "The Getaway" easily has earned a 10 out of 10! Fans new and old are bound to enjoy what this album has to offer, so DO NOT MISS OUT! "The Getaway" is available for purchase NOW on iTunes! Give it a listen and let us know what YOU think!
