“Take Me Down” - The Pretty Reckless
Written by: Abbey
"Take Me Down" because The Pretty Reckless has done it again! When the rising and dominating band released their single “Take Me Down” this summer, we were blown away and immediately fell in love. The music video additionally does not disappoint!
Though The Pretty Reckless has been maturing and finessing their sound, the same intense rock and powerhouse sound is still so present, and this song 100% puts them in the front of the genre. The music video, shot in black and white, takes place in their recording studio in Hoboken, NJ where they recorded their most recent album. It’s a very low key setting, with thebans doing the thing that they’re so passionate about, and that’s delivering amazing music. The shadows falling over their faces and the hints of red throughout the room gives off the idea of giving up your life, your soul, and everything you own for that one thing you love. It’s the darkness of the shadows and the red of passion and love, and the clarity of Taylor’s face that expresses how deeply she loves music and what she does. It’s a story that resonates with many, and she narrates it so beautifully. While singing at the top of her longs Taylor still manages to look beautiful, enchanting and powerful even while collapsing on the floor as her soul is taken.
The video, while so simply shot, was executed perfectly. The point is clear and it makes us really feel how badly Taylor wants this. “Take Me Down” earns a solid 8/10 and we can’t wait to hear some more from this amazing band. Would you give up your soul for something you love? Let us know in the comments!
